PEPEs in Togo do not stop due to COVID-19

PEPE is present in the Togolese Republic since 2016. There are two units assisting a total of 38 children. Among the main objectives at PEPE in Togo are: supply the pre-school education need, offer a quality educational curriculum, include girls in the formal school, teach children and families about Jesus, and enable educators, leaders and churches on how to love and respect children. The work has been done restless. Although we had to close our doors due to COVID -19.

The coronavirus pandemic did not spare Togo. According to official data of 01/06/2020, Togo has 442 confirmed cases, 13 deaths and 211 recovered cases. To limit the spreading of the virus, since 20/03 all the schools and churches were closed and some cities were put in lockdown. Other contagion containment measures include the mandatory curfew from 8 pm and sanitary measures like hand washing, wearing mask and forbidden handshakes and hugs. In an effort to help the most vulnerable segment of the population, the government created a social assistance structure for the quarantine time.

Although PEPE has also been affected by all the government measures taken, we keep working through internet, enabling the team and planning the reopening of the units after the pandemic. We also see during this time an opportunity to intensify the prayers, asking God to touch the pastors in Togo to have a comprehension of the view and use of PEPE in order for the program to be a more efficient tool to spread the Gospel through the county.

We thank all brothers from Brazil that pray for our country and support us. We ask you to keep praying for Togo and also to join us asking the Lord for the opening of more units in the country. May God bless you a lot!
