A new PEPE in Guatemala

“We want to take care of the children, we want to open a PEPE, but we don’t have a suitable place. What can we do?” This was the question that filled the hearts of the members of Iglesia Evangelica Bautista Lluvias de Gracia in Malacatán, Guatemala.

When we want to care for children but lack the necessary resources, we must trust in God, who always opens doors and provides all resources, because the children are in His heart! With this trust, the church, with great courage, accepted the challenge of opening PEPE, taking a step of faith, confident that God would take care of the rest.

They had a small piece of land next to the temple and came together to clear and clean it. There were no financial resources, but the entire faith community gathered and made their contributions. God multiplied every penny, and soon they began constructing a room to serve the children and start PEPE.

Today, with the room built and PEPE inaugurated, we have 51 children studying at PEPE: 18 aged 4 and 5 years, and 33 aged 6 years. Each child received their workbook and a kit containing two notebooks, a pencil, an eraser, a sharpener, and modeling clay. All in a beautiful backpack made by the national coordination.

Bringing hope to the hearts of Guatemalan children is our greatest goal, and for them, we will continue to strive to open more PEPE units and reach many more children.
